Fifty-four overseas teachers of Chinese from Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia passed the one-year training and successfully obtained course-completion certificates in Guangzhou on July 2.
The training program was held by the China Overseas Exchange Association and the Guangdong Overseas Exchange Association. Since launched in 2004, the program has trained 919 Chinese teachers from 14 countries.
During this year's training, the overseas teachers were given an intensified exposure to Chinese culture through a compulsory course and were guided to understand and experience the culture in a variety of ways, enhancing their Chinese cultural literacy.
Furthermore, they were also offered targeted courses such as Chinese Reading, Spoken Chinese, Early Childhood Literature, Early Childhood Education Theory, and Kindergarten Education Activities, as well as selective courses in piano, singing, fine arts, dance, and other arts.
To display what they learned, saw, experienced and felt in China, the students held an art exhibition and a special teaching skills performance.
