The curtain rose on the 2018 Tianjin Taiwan Trade Fair in Tianjin on July 5. Eight years after its initiation, the fair has set the stage for more than 80 cooperative projects with total investment of 16.8 billion yuan ($2.5 billion).
This year, the fair will have three pavilions covering the five industries of health and fitness, tourism, food, luxuries and jewelry, and ten monographic displays like a tea hall and beauty hall. There are over 1,200 standard booths with more than 700 enterprises. The fair lasts until July 8.
This year's fair, compared to previous years, has three highlights. One is its focus on innovative technology products with Taiwan characteristics. Another is that it lures people with interactive sessions. The third is that it encourages a green and healthy lifestyle.
It is also worth noting that at the 11th Tianjin-Taiwan Investment Cooperation Conference held on July 4, measures were issued to deepen cooperation between Tianjin and Taiwan in economics, culture, study and employment, and ways of improving livelihoods.
According to the latest measures, Taiwan-funded enterprises, among the first batch of approved national high-tech enterprises, will be awarded 300,000 yuan to 500,000 yuan depending on their size. As regards study and employment, Taiwanese graduates who set up enterprises in Tianjin will be given one-year job subsidies and three-year social insurance subsidies.
