Baotou has maintained steady growth in its tourism industry, with the number of tourists during the first five months of 2018 standing at 572,900, a year-on-year increase of 16.2 percent, reports Baotou Daily.
The city, in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, saw tourism revenues grow by 24.7 percent and hit 21.82 billion yuan ($3.25 billion) during the January to May period.
This year, the city implemented 42 key tourism projects with a total investment of 18.54 billion yuan. The planned investment for the year was 3.91 billion yuan.
Among the projects, 29 are ongoing projects with a total investment of 16.34 billion yuan. The planned investment for the year is 3.53 billion yuan. Thirteen are new projects with a total investment of 2.20 billion yuan, and the planned investment for the year is 375 million yuan.
As of May, work on 28 projects has resumed, with total investment of 327 million yuan, accounting for 8.36 percent of the planned investment.
