The 2018 China Inner Mongolia International Chorus Week will be held in Hohhot from July 10-17, according to an announcement made by Inner Mongolia Bureau of National Art Troupes on June 29.
The chorus week, hosted by the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) and the Department of Culture of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, aims to further ties between international choirs and promote the ethnic culture of Inner Mongolia.
The World Youth Choir (WYC) of the IFCM, and choirs from China, Hungary, Argentina, Italy, Canada and Thailand are expected to perform during the event.
The WYC plans to organize public tours in the cities of Hohhot, Baotou, and Ordos to promote choral music. It will also invite world famous conductors and musicians to give lectures.
In addition, international choral musicians will be invited to teach voice production, performance techniques, and chorus concepts.
The IFCM, established in 1982, is an influential music association which aims to further communication between choral musicians and promote the teaching of choral music across the world.
