Wang welcomed Li's visit to the agency and briefed him about its founding and duties. He said that China appreciates UNIDO's long-term efforts supporting the inclusive and sustainable industrial development of developing countries, and its contribution to China's reform and opening up, especially to industrial progress. China is satisfied with the cooperation in many areas including the South-South Cooperation Assistance Fund and foreign assistance training. The agency will further strengthen cooperation with UNIDO to boost the Belt and Road Initiative, implement the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and make a positive contribution to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Li said the establishment of the agency was a well-founded decision that will contribute greatly to the cause of global development cooperation. He thanked China for its support of UNIDO and hoped to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and explore trilateral cooperation with the agency in key areas. Such areas would include industrialization, green industries, energy conservation and environmental protection, and human resources training for fellow developing countries. Common advancement of industry and economy will be preceded by common effort, thus pushing forward the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
