“As a core area of the urban agglomeration consisting of Hohhot, Baotou, Ordos and Yu Lin (the first three cities are located in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and the last is in Shaanxi province), Ordos is endowed with advantageous location and resources and enjoys promising prospects for development,” he said.
The acting mayor also expressed his desire to have even closer ties with areas in Yangtze River Delta, especially Shanghai. He vowed that Ordos will strive to offer all necessary support to companies investing in the city.
Vice-Mayor Yu Renjie said that Ordos will keep pace with new trends in the global technical revolution and accelerate the upgrading of traditional coal engineering technology.
“By the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020), we hope to reach a processing capacity of 20 million tons, and by 2035, we will have built an industrial cluster of coal engineering with international influence,” he said.
The conference saw 312 representatives from companies, chambers of commerce and institutes take part. Ordos authorities signed 20 cooperative deals with 21 companies in industries such as coal engineering, new energy, new materials, recycling and environmental protection, and bio-pharmacy.
