Devoted to the art of shell carving, Jin Ashan Art Museum opened in Dalian, Liaoning province, June 20 with a mission of protecting intangible cultural heritage and spreading traditional Chinese culture.
The museum, named after the 74-year-old shell carver whose artworks it features, occupies 7,000 square meters in Ganjingzi district.
From traditional shell carvings to modern interpretations using innovative techniques, the museum houses 55 years’ worth of Jin Ashan’s remarkable work.
The museum will regularly offer free public admission, while exhibitions and workshops will help to make the museum a comprehensive cultural exchange center.
