Overseas sub-sessions of CHTF 2018 boost B&R Initiative

The overseas sub-events of the China Hi-Tech Fair 2018 (CHTF 2018) recently got underway in the Scandinavian countries of Iceland, Norway and Sweden, further promoting the "go global" strategy for Chinese companies and boosting the Belt and Road Initiative.

The events were led by Chen Biao, member of the Party Leadership Group of the Shenzhen municipal people's government and attended by a Chinese delegation of 81 business leaders from nine cities in the provinces of Guangdong, Heilongjiang and Henan.

During the sub-events, businessmen and political leaders from Iceland, Norway and Sweden joined their Chinese counterparts and had extensive exchanges on artificial intelligence, clean energy, finance and investment, life science, innovation and entrepreneurship. Three large forums were held and over 100 business match-making meetings were successfully staged.

In addition to visits to leading companies and industrial parks, the Chinese delegation also met with senior officials from the three countries.

The CHTF 2018 in Iceland

The sub-event of the CHTF 2018 in Iceland was attended by Þórdís Gylfadóttir, Minister of Tourism, Industry and Innovation of Iceland; Jin Zhijian, the Chinese ambassador to Iceland and Chen.

Chen, on behalf of Shenzhen, reflected on the city's latest progress in technology innovation, extending an official invitation to those present to attend the CHTF 2018, China's top technology show, which will take place in Shenzhen in November.

Su Yanwei, deputy director-general of the China Hi-Tech Fair Organizing Committee Office, briefed the audience on previous CHTF highlights and also invited Icelandic businesses to come to the CHTF 2018 to explore cooperation opportunities.

The sub-event also saw the participation of Marel, a world-top meat-processing company, Iceland's IT giant Stokkur software and the Icelandic arm of Huawei, who shared their valuable experiences in Iceland-China technology cooperation.

In his official meetings with Iceland minister and Sturla Sigurjónsson, the country's permanent secretary of State, Chen conducted in-depth exchanges on strengthening bilateral cooperation in AI, energy saving, environmental protection, and scientific innovation.
