Tours to the Yuxi Grand Canyon in Sanmenxia, Henan province have started to heat up in recent days and drifting activities have become increasingly popular as people look for a place to cool down.
The number of tourists visiting the grand valley scenic spot surges sometime around the end of June each year. This year the peak season is expected to come earlier, according to an officer from the scenic spot.
The Yuxi Grand Canyon has hosted the twin drifting competition for 12 consecutive years, making it a popular spot in Central China to escape the scorching heat.
Five million yuan ($758,208) has been invested into upgrading the area's water circulation system in order to cope with the rising demand.
A special discount is now available for teachers and students from July 2 to August 31. They can get a ticket to the Yuxi Grand Canyon scenic area for just one yuan via the area's official online ticket-booking platform.
