Zhang Yuanzhong, secretary of the CPC Baotou municipal committee, visited the Hondlon and Jiuyuan districts of Baotou, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on June 26, to learn about how key projects are progressing.
Zhang made a tour of inspections to several industrial gardens to learn more about how the projects are progressing, including the process of an advanced polymer new materials and comprehensive industrial park project in Baotou’s deep metal processing zone, a polyglycolic acid industry demonstration project and a negative material production project in Jiuyuan Industrial Garden.
Zhang carefully listened to the progress of project construction, process technology, production scale, and market prospects. He also inquired about the difficulties and problems that the companies had in promoting the projects.
Zhang also listened to the overall situation of the rare earth new material industrial park. He called for more efforts in accelerating the promotion of projects, capital, and technology to develop it into a national rare earth new material industrial park.
The advanced polymer new materials and comprehensive industrial park project received investment from Inner Mongolia Panxun Technology Co. The park, with an investment of about 8 billion yuan ($1.2 billion), covers an area of 65.3 hectares.
The main products of the project include advanced new polymer materials such as polyphenylene sulfide. The new polymer materials have high mechanical strength and high temperature resistance. They are used in sectors such as electronics, automobiles and aerospace vehicles.
The first phase of the project resumed in March this year, and about 50,000 tons of polyphenylene sulfide are expected to be produced from next year.
The project site is expected to become China’s largest polymer engineering material production base. The newly increased production value would reach about 30 billion yuan and the tax revenue to 1.5 billion yuan. Another 1,500 job positions can be provided in the production base.
For the projects in the Jiuyuan Industrial Garden, about 400 million yuan would be invested to produce 10,000 tons of polyglycolic acid every year by Inner Mongolia Pujing Polymer Material Technology Co.
Besides, 3.8 billion yuan will be spent on building a negative electrode material production base. About 100,000 tons of ithium ion battery cathode materials will be produced every year after its completion in the Jiuyuan Industrial Garden.
