Two research projects jointly initiated by Beihang University and Ningbo, a major manufacturing city in Zhejiang province, were officially announced in the city's Meishan district June 26.
Zheng Zhajie, Party secretary of Ningbo, and Cao Shuming, secretary of the Party Committee of Beihang University, attended the ceremony to witness the unveiling of plaques naming an innovation research institute and a graduate school.
Founded in 1952 as Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beihang University was the first university in China to focus on education and research in aeronautics and astronautics.
Ningbo's new innovation research institute, the implementation of which took only six months from the earliest talks, is designed to unite teams of high-end professionals in the creation of a first-class experimental science and engineering center in the city.
The graduate school will be committed to cultivating Ningo's next generations of talents.
Beihang is honored to play a role in the development of Ningbo, a city that emphasizes talent cultivation and scientific development, said Fang Jiancheng, vice-president of the university.
