Shanxi Finance Department recently issued a fund of 270 million yuan ($41.22 million) for the restoration of seven rivers across the province.
The rivers now in extremely dry condition include the Fenhe, Sanggan and Hutuo rivers, which together create a 112,000 square-kilometer drainage area, which is 72 percent of Shanxi province's entire land area.
Following the ecological restoration of Fenhe River, the treatment and restoration of the six other rivers will expand the construction of water networks in the province.
