A national photovoltaic power generation project has been completed and its power was made available June 22 in Hanggin Banner, Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, according to a local news outlet.
Since its launch in April 2018, the 62,097-square-meter project attracted total investment of 18.85 million yuan ($2.88 million).
Once in full operation, the project can potentially generate 4.64 million kilowatts per hour and reduce annual coal consumption by 1,403 tons, sulfur dioxide by 27.93 tons and coal ash emissions by 508 tons.
The project is part of a national poverty alleviation program, which works to enable 125 low-income families to generate 3,000 yuan in income annually, with their profits steady for 20 years.
