As summer approaches, Nanyang will open 24 air-raid shelters from June 25 to Sept 24, allowing locals to take refuge from the scorching heat, according to the city's Municipal Office of Civil Air Defense.
Five designated air-raid shelters are located in the urban area, while the other 19 are spread throughout the counties. The shelters are open from 10 am to 6 pm daily, but these hours can be adjusted according to circumstances.
All the shelters citywide are equipped with drinking fountains, tables, chairs, and medicine for heatstroke prevention. Entertainment facilities include television, chess and cards, books, newspapers and brochures.
