Hechi is expediting the early stage work of the construction of Liuzhou-Hechi Railway and Hechi-Baise Railway to ensure that the two projects can start construction before the end of the year.
With a total length of 151 kilometers, the total planned investment of Liuzhou-Hechi Railway is 21.5 billion yuan ($3.31 billion) with trains traveling at a speed of over 250 kilometers per hour. Hechi-Baise Railway is about 180 kilometers with 25 billion yuan designated for investment.
In order to further accelerate the preliminary work of the intercity railway project and ensure that the construction conditions of the Liuzhou-Hechi intercity railway are ready before the end of the year, the city will actively seek instruction and approval from higher authorities. At present, Liuzhou-Hechi Railway has been listed in the recent "Guangxi Intercity Railway Plan", while Hechi-Baise Railway has been included in the newly revised "National Railway Plan (2016-2030)" and last year's "Guangxi Intercity Railway Plan".
The two projects are an important part of Kunming-Xiamen Railway providing convenient travel between the southwest areas and southeast areas of China.
Once the construction of the two projects is completed, it will accelerate the development of Hechi, Liuzhou, and the Baise. It is hoped that the two intercity railways will be an important cross-city passenger exchange, while leading to poverty alleviation by providing tourism and other commercial opportunities.
