Ningbo, a coastal city in East China's Zhejiang province, released a document June 19, which stipulates more benefits for people and companies from Taiwan.
The document, released to increase exchanges and cooperation between Ningbo and Taiwan, ensures that Taiwan compatriots enjoy the same treatment as Ningbo residents in education, employment, business and livelihoods.
For instance, a student from Taiwan is able to apply to study at a school near his or her residence in Ningbo. Meanwhile, there will be a scholarship only for Taiwan students in the city. Also, programs will be launched to encourage young people to work and study businesses in Ningbo.
Ningbo is always an important nesting zone for Taiwan compatriots and a hotbed for cross-Straits communication. Taiwan has been the largest source of Ningbo's imports and an indispensable trade partner.
By the end of 2017, Ningbo had approved the settlement of 2,615 Taiwan-funded companies. In 2017, the trade between the two regions reached 45.8 billion yuan ($7.08 billion).
"The new document will be a powerful support for Ningbo to attract people, companies and projects from Taiwan," said Wang Renyuan, director of the general office of Ningbo government.
