Chinese dairy giant Mengniu Dairy opened a new global e-commerce platform that uses big data technology in Horinger New Area, Hohhot, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on June 18.
The event marks a milestone for Mengniu's strategy of integrating big data into its marketing.
Supported by Horinger's rapid development of its cloud computing industry and its ties with Alibaba and JD, Mengniu's ecommerce platform utilizes an internal data management system to tag targeted consumers and explore new trends in retail, like smart shelves and unmanned stores.
The platform also uses block chain anti-counterfeiting technology to track products and big data analytics to optimize its industrial structure for efficient production, cutting costs across the whole industry by including dairy cow breeding, and processing and logistics.
In addition to its e-commerce platform, Mengniu has introduced big data technology to areas such as processing and selling, leading the restructuring of the dairy industry.
