At the invitation of Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, Diao Ailin, deputy secretary-general of Guangzhou municipal government, recently led a delegation to the Massachusetts capital.
During his trip, Diao attended the 2018 International Climate Summit and held discussions with representatives of governments, research institutions and companies hailing from the United States, Canada, France and the United Kingdom on topics including how cities can cope with climate change, use clean energy, and build sustainable communities.

During the meeting, the Guangzhou delegation conducted extensive exchanges on economic and social development, energy saving and emission reduction in Guangzhou with other attendees and invited them to join the fourth Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation (Guangzhou Award), a platform to be held in December for the sharing and exchange of successful urban innovation practices.
In addition, the delegation held talks with local overseas Chinese groups and innovation and entrepreneurship agencies on strengthening cooperation in science and technology and talent development between Guangzhou and Boston.
