A traditional cultural show took place at the Shanghai Big World on June 16 in celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival, known as the the Duanwu Festival in Chinese, which fell on June 18 this year.
Female performers wearing cheongsam (a body-hugging one-piece Chinese dress for women created in the 1920s) staged a fashion show, bringing charm and elegance to the traditional cultural festivities.
More than 50 prestigious traditional Chinese painters and calligraphers including Shi Yonghua, Shi Junjie, and Gao Qingluo were invited to display their works during the performance.
The Dragon Boat Festival falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar every year. It is to commemorate the famous poet Qu Yuan in China's Warring States Period (475-221 BC).
