Nearly 10 tons of cherry tomatoes from Fengshan county were transported to Shenzhen June 9, launching a new chapter in the alleviation of poverty in Hechi, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
Taking advantage of available natural resources to establish ecological farming methods and becoming famous for its high-quality agricultural products, Hechi is a world-class "longevity city" with picturesque views, a first in China. The cherry tomatoes sold out immediately upon arrival in Shenzhen.
Shenzhen, Guangdong province, will provide its sister city Hechi with two free stalls and transportation subsidies for a period of three years in an effort to help Hechi promote its agricultural products to the nation.
Hechi government has entrusted the State Development and Investment Corporation (SDIC) to manage the supply and marketing of its agricultural products. SDIC has established a professional sales team with an aim of reaching annual sales of 200 million yuan ($31.2 million) in the near future.
