A Chinese medical team returned to Nanyang, Henan province on June 14 after accomplishing a one-year aid mission in Zambia.
The medics, 28 of them, all from local hospitals, received a warm welcome from the Nanyang’s health authorities at the Liberation Square at 11 pm.
Addressing the welcoming ceremony, a health official praised the medics’ diligent and selfless work, and called on all the other medical staff to learn from them.
The Nanyang team was appointed as the 19th Chinese medical team for Zambia and embarked on the journey to the southern African country on May 15, 2017.
Over the past year, they have treated more than 30,000 patients, performed over 3,000 surgeries and trained some 350 local medical personnel. The Zambian government honored the team with a medal for their excellent work and contribution to the China-Zambia medical cooperation.
