Hangzhou is a high-tech industrial base in the biological industry and a coordinated innovation center for green pharmaceutical industry in the Yangtze River Delta. It is home to the high tech medical industrial park, also known as "New Drug Port", and the "Eastern Medicine Valley", as well as 22 national and ministerial key laboratories. Six of the top 10 pharmaceutical enterprises in the world have settled in Hangzhou. In 2016, the industry’s total output value was 48.04 billion yuan and paid 11.7 billion yuan in tax.

The research and industrialization of its Icotinib Hydrochloride Tablets was granted the National Scientific and Technological Progress Award and the China Grand Awards for Industry.

It is a joint venture of French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi Group in China and an export base of the Group in Asia. It has 21 prescribed drugs for treating hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, thrombus and tumor.

Conba Group specializes in producing new drugs targeting diseases in urology, digestion, endocrinology and cardiovascular. It has an industrial base for new type drug preparation and some of its projects were rewarded by the National Torch Program and won national awards like the Chinese Excellent Patent Award.
DIAN Diagnostics
DIAN Diagnostics Co is a third-party diagnostic service provider and has 31 medical laboratories with about 8,000 employees. It provides services to over 12,000 medical institutions across China. It carries out more than 450,000 tests every day and is the only third-party diagnostics company that publicly got listed in this industry in China.
Tiansong Medical Instrument Co
As a high-tech enterprise integrating research and development, production and sale of medical endoscopy and surgical instruments, it is a leader in the endoscope industry in China. Its endoscopes holds a market share of 38 percent in the country. The products cover many fields of medicine, such as urology, ENT, X-ray, obstetrics and gynecology, and neurosurgery.
