Dalian welcomes delegation from Central and Eastern Europe

A delegation from Central and Eastern Europe, headed by Bulgarian Ambassador to China Grigor Porozhanov, visited Dalian June 9 at the invitation of the Liaoning provincial government.

The city’s Party Secretary Tan Zuoyun and Mayor Tan Chengxu extended a warm welcome to the delegation.

The officials gave a brief introduction to the city’s economic and social development at their meeting. They said that Central and Eastern Europe is a significant region involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. Dalian, as a window of opening-up in Northeast China, has put much emphasis on cooperation with cities in the region.

The Dalian officials said they hoped that the two sides could make full use of this visit to learn more about each other’s needs and strengthen their partnerships in trade, culture, tourism and education.

Grigor Porozhanov said that they were impressed by the hospitality of Dalian people and the fast growth of the city. He expressed his hopes that Dalian and Central and Eastern Europe can facilitate communication and promote cooperation in various fields.
