Located at the foot of Wushan Mountain, Hefang Street is a historical site where people can sense the cultural characteristics of Hangzhou city.
Spanning over 1,800 meters, the street is 32 meters wide except between Wushan Square and Zhongshanzhong Road, where it is 13 meters wide.
In the old days, the four corners at the crossing of Hefang Street and Zhongshanzhong Road were occupied by four well-known shops selling face power, tobacco, ham and hats. The street is also home to the five major Hangzhou specialties – locust root starch, scissors, fans, tobacco and silk.
Most of the shops on the street have a history of more than 100 years. They sell the most typical Hangzhou products, including special snacks, antiques and paintings.
