Yangzhou promotes summer tourism in East China

The tourism bureau of Yangzhou city held a tourism promotion event in Shanghai on June 10, featuring various local performances to attract visitors from Shanghai and other regions in East China.

Titled "Enjoy Summer in Yangzhou", the tourism road show activities, including guzheng (the Chinese music instrument) performance, puppet play and woodblock printing show, attracted thousands of onlookers.

According to Yangzhou city's tourism bureau, more than 60 tourism promotion activities will be held in the city this summer. Night tours of the city, musical dramas, cultural events and nine tour routes of some of the touristic sights of Yangzhou will be some of the events taking place.

The city is also offering ticket discounts to tourists this summer. For example, the ticket price of Slender West Lake scenic spot will drop from over 100 yuan ($15.59) to 60 yuan in June, July and August, according to the tourism bureau.

Additionally, a whole year ticket package only costs 200 yuan, or depending on the month you buy it, 150 yuan, to visit famous scenic spots in Yangzhou, such as Slender West Lake, Daming Temple, Geyuan Garden and Heyuan Garden.

Students of primary and middle schools and colleges with valid identification will be free to visit Slender West Lake, Daming Temple, Geyuan Garden, Heyuan Garden and the Museum of Guangling King's Tomb in Han Dynasty in July and August.
