JD Group is going to promote its unmanned delivery business that includes unmanned delivery vehicles in Northeast China, with Dalian of Liaoning province being a pilot city, according to a recently held press conference.
The move will be backed by Dalian municipal government.
Five major technology trends of unbounded retail were unveiled at the press conference.
JD, the second largest e-commerce operator in China, has deployed unmanned supermarkets in 13 cities in China.
Until now, a total of three unmanned supermarkets have been set up in Dalian and have been operating smoothly.
Many of JD’s independent innovation technologies and products will be used and promoted in Dalian city to facilitate developing Dalian into a smart city and promoting consumption upgrades.
The planned unlicensed supermarket affiliate programs will also have more layouts in the city. Based on the unmanned supermarket, JD is creating an unmanned distribution platform.
