Hainan Airlines will open a direct flight between the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen and Zurich, Switzerland on Aug 27, according to reports from sznews.com.
This marks another intercontinental route from Shenzhen to Europe operated by Hainan Airlines, after the launching of flights from Shenzhen to Brussels and Madrid earlier this year.

Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland. It is a leading global city and among the world's largest financial centers, despite having a relatively small population. The city is home to a large number of financial institutions and banking companies, and is ranked among the top ten most livable cities in the world, according to the Global Livability Ranking by the Economist Intelligence Unit.
The Boeing 787 aircraft will fly this route twice a week. The flights depart from Shenzhen on Monday and Friday at 01:20 and arrive in Zurich at 07:55. The return flights depart from Zurich on the same days at 11:40 and arrive in Shenzhen at 5:00 the next day.
China and Switzerland have a close economic relationship, as China is Switzerland's third-largest trading partner after the European Union and the United States, while Switzerland is an important technology exporter for China.

The Shenzhen-Zurich flight will not only offer more convenience for businesses, more trade opportunities, and more tourism options for travelers in the Pearl River Delta region, but will also play a key role in enhancing top-level cooperation in trade and new energy between the two countries.
