Fengshan japonica rice gains national recognition

Fengshan japonica rice won "Agro-product Geographical Indications" on 2018 First National Review Meeting on Agro-product Geographical Indications held in Beijing on June 5.

Japonica rice has long been grown around Fengshan county, Hechi in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region since 1970s because of the unique geographical environment and weather conditions in Fengshan.

In recent years, Fengshan japonica rice has been favored due to its high quality and is currently being sold by online retailers to first-tier cities including Beijing and Guangzhou.

At the review meeting, Fengshan japonica rice, with its quality characteristics, growth place, production form, product popularity, humanity history and prospects of industry development, won recognition of the expert group by unanimous vote.
