Two construction projects with total investment of nearly 100 million yuan ($15.61 million) started in Nandan county, Hechi city, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region recently.
The projects are expected to help promote tourism and accelerate rural economic development in the county.
One of the projects is a third-class highway construction project. It has received investment of 92 million yuan and will run for around 18 kilometers connecting the roads from Badi village, Lihu township to Moyan village, Mangchang town.
The project is designed to improve the transport infrastructure in Lihu Yao nationality township and Mangchang town, as well as connect rural roads to 201 National Highway.
The second project involves irrigating and draining farmland around Nandan county. It has received total investment of 5.51 million yuan and covers an area of 58.34 hectares across five areas in Shanggao village, Yueli town.
Nandan county is located in northwest Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. As well as being a transportation hub, the area is a popular tourist attraction due to its natural scenery and diverse cultures. Attractions such as Bachuan River underground canyon, the karst cave in En village, and various villages inhabited by people of the Yao ethnicity receive large numbers of visitors each year.
Income from tourism makes up a portion of Nandan's economy. And when the projects are completed, it will be more convenient for tourists to visit the area, providing a boost to the local economy.
