17,407 students sit for gaokao in Sanmenxia

A total of 17,407 students, mostly born in 2000, registered for the national college entrance exam, the gaokao, in Sanmenxia, Henan province this year. That's 2,441 more than last year's figure, according to official data.

About 600 rooms in 13 testing centers and six districts were designated to administer the exam around the city.

The annual exam took place on June 7- 8. At least 2,000 vehicles, including taxis, private and police cars, joined the fleet this year to provide free transportation services to students.
