The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Creative Cultural Industry Development Committee was founded in Shanghai June 5 with the aim of increasing the global exposure of TCM.
The TCM creative cultural industry is a new industry model integrating cultural achievements and products into the TCM sector. According to Fan Huimin, president of the new committee, this new industry model brings with it high added value. Affiliated with the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, the new committee has been founded for the promotion and development of this new industry model.
The committee, comprised of TCM experts and creative cultural companies, will be dedicated to talent training, and the establishment of academic research and international exchange platforms.

A chronic cardiovascular disease research institute affiliated with Shanghai East Hospital of Tongji University was also inaugurated on the same day. The institute will focus on translational medicine research by combining Chinese and western practices and establishing an improved health management model for chronic cardiovascular disease.
Committee president Fan, who is also head of the institute, spoke of the potential for this research to provide quantifiable information for the prevention and treatment of chronic cardiovascular diseases.
