Baotou in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region has seen marked economic growth over the four-month period from January to April, according to statistics released by the municipal government.
The added value of industries above a designated scale in the city saw year-on-year growth of 6.2 percent.
The most recent figure represents a 0.6 percentage point increase on Inner Mongolia’s average –– a fact that helped Baotou rank fifth among the autonomous region’s 12 prefectural cities and leagues.
The added value of the city’s five pillar industries saw year-on-year growth of 15.2 percent. And the rare earths industry reported the fastest growth among the five main industries at 26.4 percent, followed by the aluminium industry at 26.2 percent.
