Agriculture in Heilongjiang province has received a welcome boost after the establishment of a new World Trade Center (WTC) in Harbin’s Nangang district.
WTC Harbin aims to advance the province’s agriculture sector globally by forging links with multinational agribusiness companies and other WTC centers worldwide.
As a founding member of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) Agriculture Committee, which was established in April during the 49th WTCA Annual General Assembly (AGA), WTC Harbin enjoys direct access to WTCA’s global agriculture database and strong ties with WTC centers from across the globe.
The center is to build multiple platforms in trade promotion, data sharing, and innovation incubation, providing comprehensive services for global agribusiness companies.
Leading multinational companies from the United States, Canada and the Netherlands have reached cooperation agreements with WTC Harbin and are expected to bring in food-processing and other value-added agribusinesses to Harbin.
WTC Harbin also aims to attract agribusiness companies from home and abroad in developing an agribusiness cluster centering on technical innovation and high value-added products.
It is hoped that this will drive the exports of value-added products in Heilongjiang and help to reform the agriculture sector in the province.
