National Museum publishes picture books for children

The National Museum of China has released five picture books for children to mark Children's Day.

The books, released by the National Museum and the Posts & Telecom Press for children aged 5 and above, introduce China's social development from the perspectives of family, transportation, food, rivers and trade, featuring many artifacts displayed at the National Museum.

One book titled Family, Where Do We Come From talks about the origins of family names and how the ancient Chinese educated children.

The book Trade, From Shells to Silk talks about what types of coins were used in ancient China and how the Silk Road emerged.

How We Went to the World focuses on how the ancient Chinese communicated with the world.

Rivers, Where We Started focuses on the ancient civilizations that emerged along China's major rivers, such as the Yangtze River and Yellow River.

And Dining Table of Our Ancestors provides an insight into the evolution of Chinese cuisines and cooking tools.
