The 2018 ITF International Women's Tennis Tournament (Baotou division) came to a close on May 27, with China’s Xu Shilin defeated by Serbian rising star Nina Stojanovic in the final, reports Baotou Daily.
Tickets sales for the final match proved strong with 70 percent of the 2,500 seats occupied.
The Baotou meet was the first ITF international women's event to be held in China this year. The event also received extensive coverage from regional and international news media, including CCTV Sports Channel, Inner Mongolia Daily and Inner Mongolia TV Station.
The ITF International Tennis Women's Tournament is an athletic event of global prominence and influence. Such sporting legends as Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams and Li Na have competed at the ITF arena, confirming it as proving ground for future international tennis stars. Each round, qualifying players will receive corresponding WTA world ranking points.
