Cycling competition kicks off in Shanzhou

The 2018 National Mountain Bike Invitational kicked off in Shanzhou district of Sanmenxia, Henan province on May 26.

As one of the annual events held during the Sanmenxia Yellow River Cultural Tourism Festival, the competition is designed to promote tourism in Sanmenxia, inviting people to visit the underground dwellings and experience the folk customs of western Henan province.

Over 700 cyclists from all over the country took part in the competition. Participants set out from Shanzhou Avenue, winding and twisting along 20 kilometers of hilly roads before arriving at their final destination - the cave dwelling scenic spot.

The route, despite its stunning scenery, is a challenge for competitors with its steep slopes and sharp turns.

The winner of the men's 80 km road cycling in the men's youth group was Hu Tiantian from Zhejiang province, with a time of 38:53.

Hu Ziyun from Jiangxi province took first place in the men's middle-aged group with a time of 42:51, while He Chong from Hainan province seized the women's title with a time of 46:11.
