Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone

Based on Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan cities' high-tech industrial development zones established in 1991, 1992 and 2009 respectively, Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan High-tech Industrial Development Zone in Hunan province became the 6th national independent innovation demonstration zone on Dec 11, 2014.

The Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan demonstration zone has achieved world-class scientific results including super rice and supercomputer, thanks to its solid economic foundation, outstanding reforms of the science and technology systems, and collaborative innovations of the three cities. The zone has seen an annual average growth rate of 36 percent in the added value of high-tech industries in the past five years, ranking first in the country.

According to its development plan, a spatial layout, consisting of the zone, the Changsha's Lu Valley Science and Technology Park, Zhuzhou's China Power Valley and Xiangtan's Smart Manufacturing Valley, as well as new industrial parks to be set up in the three cities of Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan, will take shape to coordinate the development of industrial clusters.

It will focus on five major industries -- high-end equipment, new materials, next-generation information technology, biology (health and seed industry), and cultural creativity; five leading industries -- mobile internet, green building, Beidou satellite navigation application, energy conservation and environmental protection, and high-tech service; and also emerging industries, such as Internet+, 3D printing, industrial robot, big data, cloud computing, wearable devices, stem cell, graphene, and silicon carbide fiber.
