Citizens in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, are no longer required to make multiple trips and appointments when applying for passports and other travel documents, as of May 1.
Online appointment booking streamlines the application process for such travel documents as passports, and Hong Kong and Macau passes, and will require applicants to make only one visit to their local entry and exit administration bureau.
The bureaus will open on Saturdays and Sundays, offering successful applicants a 24-hour passport receipt service.
The service is part of a national campaign to stream administrative procedures and reduce red tape for both individuals and enterprises.
