"I would like to thank China for giving us the opportunity to study here. We have gained an appreciation of Qilu culture and a more thorough understanding of the economic and cultural exchanges between China and Russia."

Through selection and recommendation, Shahazho, a student from Tajikistan, won a national development bank scholarship and entered the School of International Education at Shandong University in 2016.

She is an employee of Tajikistan's central bank and now enjoys her school life in Shandong so much.

"I can learn about Chinese culture, make many good friends and travel to quite a lot of beautiful places here," she said.

She has over 20 courses per week such as Chinese, modern China, seminars and tai chi.

"I just learnt a little Chinese in Tajikistan, so the courses are a little difficult for me. But my teachers are willing to teach us quite patiently."

"We often talk about the Belt and Road Initiative and Shanghai Cooperation Organization with our colleagues and family members, since it is of great importance to our country's development. I hope that the SCO member state leaders talk about the significant issues at the summit in order to further strengthen political mutual trust as well as to deepen cooperation on security, the economy, and culture and humanities. It plays a crucial part in consolidating regional stability and promoting harmonious development," she said.

"The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Qingdao Summit will be held soon. As a Tadzhik living in Shandong, I feel so happy. I hope the Qingdao summit is a great success and I look forward to a consensus being reached by member state leaders. Let's strive together for a better life."
