Davlat Makhmadiyarov, 25-year-old man from Anglian, Uzbekistan, came to Shandong in October 2016, and now studies in a language program at the Ocean University of China in Qingdao.

When he just arrived at China, he was so overwhelmed by the large numbers of QR codes here and there.

"When shopping or taking a taxi, people would like to pay the bill by scanning the QR code."

He turned to his Chinese teachers for help, and then found out that it was mobile payment, one of the four new great inventions of China. Now, he is a master of using Alipay or Wechat Pocket.

"I have a great time in Shandong and I just feel at home here."

"Uzbekistan was on the route of China's ancient Silk Road, and now is not only a country along the Belt and Road but also a member state of Shanghai Cooperation Organization. It is my hope that China and Uzbekistan will work more closely in trade cooperation and cultural communication in the future," Davlat said.

Nowadays, an increasing number of Chinese companies invest and operate in Uzbekistan, meanwhile, a growing amount of people of Uzbekistan come to China to study or work. Accordingly, the Qingdao municipal government has established scholarships for foreign students in China.

According to Davlat, he will continue his studies in China, and he aims to study for a doctoral degree in international trade. After graduation, he wants to do business with his family and friends so as to contribute to the economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and Uzbekistan.
