A documentary focusing on China's cultural heritage will start shooting in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, according to an announcement made at a launch ceremony held in Hohhot on May 22.

The documentary, China's Tour of Intangible Cultural Heritage, produced by state broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV), is a national TV series first broadcast in 2016.

Feng Huijun, chief director of the program, said at the launch ceremony that the documentary aims to take an in-depth look at the intangible cultural heritage of China.

With a particularly rich and diverse culture, Inner Mongolia is an important region of China for the production team to focus on.

Our culture is what differentiates us from others, and Inner Mongolia's culture is especially unique thanks to its traditional Mongolian influences, said Bai Gengsheng, vice-president of the China Writers' Association.

A total of 10 items of cultural heritage from Inner Mongolia will be covered in the program, according to the production team.

In recent years, the autonomous region's government has made the protection of cultural heritage a priority, with new regulations and training programs designed to protect the region's culture.

It is hoped that the shooting of the documentary will further raise awareness of protecting the nation's heritage for future generations.
