Jinan, capital of Shandong province, held the second Centennial Brand Forum and promotion meeting of provincial outstanding enterprises on May 12.
Shandong has 44 brands including Haier, a consumer electronics and home appliances company, Tsingtao Beer and Lovol in the top 500 brands in China.
According to official statistics, five Shandong enterprises, namely Haier, Tsingtao Beer, Lovol Heavy Industry, Hisense and Zhaojin Mining entered the top 100 Chinese enterprises in 2017. The province had 35 industrial brands selected as top 500 brands in China in 2017, 28 of the 182 key enterprises entered the top 500 of Chinese enterprises, and 41 enterprises were listed in the top 500 of the national manufacturing industry.
By the end of 2017, there were 658 famous trademarks, 2,743 provincial famous trademarks and 1,493 provincial famous brands nationwide. Haier and Tsingtao Beer continue to be named as among the top 500 world brands. Haier ranked 50th with a brand value of 291.9 billion yuan ($45.85 billion) in 2017, 26 places higher than the previous year.
Shandong ranked third in the country in terms of the number of top 500 Chinese enterprises. The province’s selected enterprises with a total brand value of 1.2 trillion yuan, an increase of nearly 30 percent over the previous year, account for 7.7 percent of the national total brand value of the 500 listed companies. And 22 of the 44 selected brands have a value of more than ten billion yuan.
Many Shandong enterprises have stood out in specialized areas, for example, 24 of the province’s 182 key enterprises, including Wanhua, are national champion demonstration enterprises in the manufacturing industry for a single item.
Since last year Shandong’s Ministry of Finance has arranged special funds to support the development of industrial clusters, resulting in brand clusters and new industrialization demonstration bases. There are 25 state-level new industrial demonstration bases and 121 provincial demonstration bases, active in various fields including equipment manufacturing, raw materials, consumer goods and electronic information.
