Students in Harbin will soon have an additional option when it comes to getting a high-quality international-standard education, as EtonHouse International Education Group (EtonHouse) signed an agreement with the government of Daoli district on May 17 to open an international school.
The school will provide education right through from kindergarten to high school, with the children of local expats its main target market, as well as Chinese students who plan to attend university abroad.
According to the agreement, the school will cover an area of about 50,000 square meters, with a total investment of 200 million yuan ($31.4 million) from EtonHouse.
EtonHouse is based in Singapore and operates more than 100 international schools and preschools across Singapore, Hong Kong, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar and the Middle East. It educates a total of 12,000 students, with 61 different nationalities attending its schools in Singapore alone.
The establishment of the school will provide a further service for local expats, helping Harbin attract highly-skilled foreign workers to assist with the social and economic development of the city.
