A ceremony to open the seventh Ordos Peony Tourism Culture Festival was held at the Wedding Culture Park in Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region on May 19. The festival invites visitors to immerse themselves in the fragrance of more than 60,000 peonies which are now in full bloom at the park.
The park’s 40,000-square-meter peony garden holds more than 240 varieties of the flower.
Additionally, 21 peonies that are a century old were added this year, towering above others with an average height of 2.5 meters.
This year’s festival featured a light show themed “viewing the flowers at night”, that impressed nighttime visitors with its integration of modern technology and traditional cultural elements.
A series of other activities will also be held during the festival, including artistic performances, a fashion show, a painting and calligraphy exhibition, a food festival and a concert for college students.
