Baogang Group reported a steel export volume of 670,700 tons during the first four months of 2018, year-on-year growth of 25 percent, according to Baotou Daily.
The company’s export growth ranked first in China, against a backdrop of falling national steel exports, which saw a decrease of 20 percent to 21.6 million tons.
Steel worth $415 million was exported by the firm, representing year-on-year growth of 49.24 percent.
The company’s products were exported to 47 countries and regions, including 21 Belt and Road countries, in the first four months of 2018. The export volume was 385,100 tons, accounting for 57.42 percent of exports. And the number of countries that the company exported to increase by 16.67 percent year on year. The volume of exports increased by 38.67 percent.
Baogang Group has been actively participating in the development of the Belt and Road Initiative and exploring areas for cooperation with neighboring countries, increasing the export of products to Belt and Road countries. In 2017, its products were exported to a total of 56 countries and regions, among which 22 were Belt and Road countries. The total volume exported hit 928,100 tons, accounting for 57.98 percent of exports.
In 2018, Baogang Group continued to stabilize its overseas markets, and develop new markets. On Jan 17, the company signed a strategic cooperation agreement with India’s largest manufacturer of pipeline steel pipes.
On Feb 2, the European Union officially signed and issued the European Railway Interconnection Certification for steel rail products produced by Baogang Group, meaning that Baogang-made steel rail products have passed the EU's TSI certification.
Established in 1954, Baogang Group is an iron and steel State-owned enterprise based in Baotou. It is the largest steel business based in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, and one of the oldest iron and steel industrial bases in China, with a large production base and the country’s largest scientific research and production base for rare earth metals.
