Shanghai and Italy to jointly promote design

Shanghai's Yangpu district established a cooperative relationship with Como, an Italian hub of high-profile designers, May 19.

According to Yangpu officials, the agreement is important to the development of the district's design industry and will also aid Shanghai's development into a "capital of design", "capital of fashion", and "capital of brands".

Mario Landriscina, the mayor of Como, spoke of Italy's renowned design industry and expressed his hopes for Yangpu's business development.

A group of small- and medium-sized Italian companies accompanied the mayor to Yangpu. Cooperation agreements were signed between Shanghai International Design and Trade Promotion Center and such international institutions as CONFAPI, an association of small- and medium-sized Italian companies.

Another recent addition to Yangpu, the Oenotria Italian Handicraft Furnishing Exhibition and Trade Center will welcome such top-rated Italian projects such as Maserati and the Leonardo da Vinci Museum.
