WuXi Biologics to invest $784 million in life technology park

A life technology park funded by investments from WuXi Biologics went into construction on May 18. The total amount invested has surpassed 5 billion yuan ($784.5 million).

According to the schedule, the park will become the global headquarters of WuXi Biologics and one of the largest centers integrating research, development and manufacture of biological medicines.

WuXi Biologics will increase its domestic production capacity while further expanding international business through the establishment of research and production bases in several countries, said CEO Chen Zhisheng.

The life technology park covers 26 hectares and includes a business training center and a domestic equipment center.

Moreover, the park will lower the threshold of biological medicine innovation and entrepreneurship, instituting a brand new model providing relevant personnel with integrated services and advancing China's medical health development, Chen added.

Wuxi will remain WuXi Biologics' premiere research and manufacturing center and will boast a production capacity of more than half the total global capacity.

With abundant financial support, WuXi Biologics aims to accelerate competition to develop new drugs treating tumors, immunity diseases, infectious diseases and numerous rare diseases, while continuously expanding its research and development team.
