The 2018 International Kite Festival will commence in Hohhot, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on May 19.

The festival, organized by Chinese Kite Flying Association and Hohhot Sports Bureau, will attract 50 kite-flying groups from Germany, New Zealand, the United States, Thailand, India, Kenya, Tanzania, Austria, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.

The two-day event features kite-flying competitions and recreational activities for visitors. The flying competitions start on May 19, offering visitors a visual feast of characteristic kites such as luminous kites.

The world's biggest kite shaped like a Chinese Knot made by a group from Tianjin in China will also attend the competition. The kite covers an area of 2,600 square meters and weighs more than 500 kilograms.

A parent-child event of drawing kites will also be held during the festival. More than 500 children will attend the event to enjoy the fun of flying kites.
