The award ceremony for the first "Knight Award" international photography competition commenced in Shanzhou district, Sanmenxia, Henan province on May 16.
A total of 240 works received gold, silver, bronze and excellence awards, with another 150 works reaching the final round. The photographs showcased the amazing natural and cultural landscapes of the world from different perspectives.
The organizing committee received 18,562 works from 19 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada and Germany. More than 20 photography associations and clubs from home and abroad participated in the competition.
Organized by the Europe Photographers Association, the Shanzhou Association of Literature and Art and the administration office for the Shanzhou underground dwellings scenic spot, the "Knight Award" competition is so-named in order to encourage photographers to be as fearless as knights in their artist exploration.
Shanzhou district will display the award-winning works and invite hundreds of renowned photographers to give lectures on their experiences in photography and record the beauty of Shanzhou district with their cameras.
Blessed with a rich history and culture as well as breathtaking natural scenery, Shanzhou district offers unlimited room for creativity and inspiration. The event will increase the district's influence and confidence by exposing the world to its traditional culture.
"We will intensify efforts to build the competition into an open platform which allows photographers from around the world to exchange thoughts and ideas", Hu Zhiquan, chief of Shanzhou district, noted.
