An annual national forum on the potential of China's photovoltaic (PV) industry opened in Baoying county, Jiangsu province, on May 10.
This year's edition looked back on the fruitful results China's PV industry has achieved through cross-industry cooperation in recent years, especially the application patterns that have realized substantial energy-saving in agriculture, forestry and environmental protection, and on poverty-alleviation feedback.
The participants also discussed how China's PV industry's moved beyond the former homogeneous competition and is advancing toward achieving more efficient, scientific and rigorous results.
Baoying's hosted the forum after being nomination by the National Energy Administration late last year as a pilot location to set up a floating PV power generation base.
Wang Xiaoxiao, the county's Party secretary, said the PV project had caught the attention of many State-owned enterprises and manufacturing leaders, which, once in operation, will see an intended capacity of 2.08 gigawatts, the largest of its kind in Jiangsu, and will be used to both generate power and to aid the local fishery industry.
